Fragments of unknown music
This concert examines some solo piano tracks which were written by Arabian musicians, most of them from North Africa, around the first decades of the 1900s. Some of these compositions have been examined and compared with the solo piano music of some contemporary jazz musicians whose form and approach to music is, in a certain way, linked to Arabian music. It includes a new elaboration of some George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff tracks as well. What makes this work special is its desire to approach spirituality, its essence, its inner force, that is to say the soul of Arabian music.
Music composed by: Mohammed Elkurd, Mohammed Abdelwahab, Yussef Chalum, Mustafŕ Skandrani, Abdullah lbrahim, George Ivanovitch Gurdijeff, Giuseppe Grifeo
